11/3/2015: It was a pleasant surprise to welcome a visitor and hopefully new member, Patrick Jones to out November meeting.  He is obviously a multi-talented artist and would be a great addition to our group.

There was a lot of discussion regarding our "Members Show" this year.  There was some confusion about the judging but, all in all, we had a respectable showing and fairly good attendance for the reception. The one change that everyone would like to see happen is to move the show from October to September.  The weather has been a problem the last couple of years and September usually has better weather. We will looking in to the possibility for next year. Congratulations to Irene Rodkin for winning "Best in Show."

The November program was so much fun and for those of us who know a little about watercolors we learned how much we did not know, that it can be difficult media, but the rewards are worth it. I know I liked my gift bag. Thank you HELEN RAMSEY for providing all the bags, paint, and brushes for us to use, and pictures to use for inspiration. You provided our refreshments too. Great sandwiches!

12/1/2015: Christmas Party!!! Don't forget to bring your Pot Luck dish and decorated ornament to exchange. Put your MOJO to work and come up with a work of Art!

We will have a tough on a couple of topics and the party regarding the Sugar Plum Market. Be thinking of what you can do and be ready to share it with the group at the meeting. The items you will bringing and quantity. We need to nail down all these things at the meeting so we know what to expect when we meet two days later (the 3rd) to put it all together.

12/3/2015: This is a very important date so make a note of it. This is the day we will meet at the church to get all our items packaged and labeled for the Sugar Plum Market on the 5th.

Everyone should have all their cookies baked and/or candy made ready to put the Snowman/Reindeer boxes on that night. Clear plastic bags will be provided for the cookies/candy. Remember to bake them small enough so they will fit into the plastic bags and then into the boxes. There should be 1(one) dozen cookies per box, same goes with the candy. If you're making fudge, 12 pieces to a box.

FYI: We have approximately 40 boxes to fill, that means a minimum of 40 dozen cookies/candy will be needed for the boxes; but we will need even more cookies/candy because we will sell them too, but for less money since some people will not want the boxes but want the cookies/candy to take home.

We have tags with the Delta Artist Society stamp on them.  They will be uses to attach to everything we sell. You can put the name of the cookie/candy on the outside of the tag and then open the tag and on the inside put the ingredients of your item, NOT the recipe, just what is in it. Too many have allergies and we don't want to cause any health issues. Items for sale that don't involve food will have the price on the tag instead.

Preparation is the key to success and less stress. This should be our best Sugar Plum Market endeavor yet, it everyone does their part.

Bonnie Thweatt passed away October 24, 2015 at the age of 82. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, St Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to the American Diabetes Association.

We all loved the Glass Candy Bonnie made and it sold quickly in our first Sugar Plum Market. Sure hope someone makes it for the "Market" this time. I will never think or see Glass Candy without thinking of her. The Paint Alongs was one of her many suggestions and she always supported anything the DAS wanted to do. We will miss he positive attitude about everything around her and her own personal life.

4/7/2015: We had a very informative meeting in April. There was a lot of discussion regarding the Sultana mural in Marion and when we needed to start on it. The City of Marion has agreed to pay up to $1000 for paint, brushes, rollers, and etc..whatever we need to get the mural completed. There were a lot of activities planned by the city regarding the sinking of the Sultana so we agreed to start painting as soon as possible, weather permitting.

Sandra Younger was able to check with Caroline Redfern at the library regarding our ‘Members Show’ this fall. Please make note of these dates: 10/16/2015 for hanging paintings. 10/18/2015 for reception. Start painting!

We haven’t had a workshop yet but Sherry Lovelady said she would try to locate a Glass Artist to do a workshop for us.

James House presented an excellent program for the April meeting. It is nice to have our own members sharing their talents with everyone. We still need people to volunteer to present a program for the months of June, August, November, and December.

Just about everyone brought something to showcase their creative side for the month of April. May: your challenge is to create anything that makes you think of May (flowers, Mother’s Day, Maypole, etc)

See you at the meeting!!!
