Meeting Date: January 4, 2011

Delta Arts Office

Meeting time: 7 pm

The Delta Artists Society is a nonprofit organization composed of individuals joining together to encourage an interest in and and appreciation of the visual arts.

SERVICE PROJECT FOR THE YEAR:

Many thanks to everyone who participated in this service project.  We were able to provide more than forty filled gift boxes for the residents of the 8th Street Mission.  Sandy, Helen, and Sara delivered the decorated boxes to the Mission on December 20th.  This was a worthy project and the director of the Mission voiced his appreciation for our donations.

CHRISTMAS PARTY:

Many thanks to Lydia Marconi for again inviting us to hold our annual Christmas Party at her pool house.   As usual, the meal was delicious and everyone enjoyed good food and good fellowship.  Following the dinner, handmade or hand decorated Christmas ornaments were exchanged followed by the singing of Christmas Carols.  This is wonderful way to begin the holiday season.

HOSTESSES, DOOR PRIZES AND PROGRAM FOR JANUARY:

No program has been scheduled.  Sara will serve as hostess and provide the door prizes.

JANUARY BIRTHDAYS:

Happy Birthday to Michael Alsop, who will celebrate his on the 14th, and to Loretta Nash, who will celebrate hers on the 17th.

Sad Happening

We are sad because of the loss of Janine Earney.  She was the executive director of the Delta Arts for more than 25 years.

She will be missed.

Posted Saturday on her Facebook page:

Dear friends, we invite you to join us in remembering Janine on Tuesday, December 7th at the First United Methodist Church in West Memphis (215 N Missouri St). The service begins at 11 am. The family asks that you make donations to Delta Arts in lieu of flowers. Thank you for your prayers. - John & Meg Earney
