The Delta Artists Society is a non-profit organization composed of individuals joining together to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of the visual arts.

 

Annual dues for the current year are now due and may be paid at the meeting or mailed to the Delta Arts Office at 1800 N Missouri St, West Memphis, AR 72301-1713

Everyone is glad that James House is back at home and resuming his normal activities after suffering a blockage in a bi-pass vessel while visiting family in Oklahoma.

It is suggested at the July meeting, that an “Artist of the Month” be named from the regular attendees of the monthly meeting.  The nominee’s photograph, along with a painting and a short bio, would be published in the local newspaper.  Clara and Sandy were appointed as a nomination committee.  Phyllis Parmes was selected as “Artist of the Month” for July.  Helen has offered to contact the newspaper regarding this.

Offers for the coming year were elected at the last meeting and are as follows:

President: Helen Ramsey

Vice President: Sara Bundy

Secretary: Sandy Younger

Treasurer: Clara Miller

Display Chairman: Yet to be appointed

 

The Crittenden county Landmark Painting Series Project is still in process.  Photos made on the recent “Photo Shoot” have been printed courtesy of Scott Lovelady, Owner of Lovelady Graphics in Marion, were displayed at the meeting and several were selected by the members for painting.

Many thanks to Kaye Simpson for the very attractive and useful Member Directories she presented to each member at the last meeting.  Their unique loose leaf construction makes it possible to add additional pages when necessary.

AUGUST BIRTHDAYS:

Happy Birthday to Helen Ramsey, whose birthday is the 17th and to Sara Bundy, whose birthday is the 23d

AUGUST HOSTESS, PROGRAM AND DOOR PRIZE:

No one has volunteered to serve as host or hostess for August, Bonnie will provide the door prize and Clara will give the program.

Meeting July 6th 2010

Well, it was that time of the month again.  Meeting time.

We were all sad to here that our out going president James was in the hospital.

So we had a informal meeting.  Less structural than our normal meetings.  So everyone was a little scattered with conversations popping everywhere.

Artist of the month , which was suggested by Bonnie last month, was choiced by a lottery.  The lottery is for active members, mainly whomever is there at meetings.

Phyllis won the Artist of the month.  Her picture and a painting will be posted here, our facebook page, and the Eveningtimes News paper soon.

Congratulations to our new officers for the  2010-2012.

At the meeting Kaye brought our Membership Directory that she created.  To find everyone go by the first names which is what everyone can remember.

Thanks Pat for supplying the door prizes and thanks Sara for the snacks.

Oh, by the way, the chair for the display committee was  James.  It was just because someone is needed.
