After Meeting June 1, 2010

We had our meeting again.

It became unanimous that we are changing out meeting time back to 7pm. It was a joyous explosion and a big relief.

The meeting was just the typical for what we have. There were only 9 members at the meeting and it was less formal that it has normally been.

We had our refreshments first while we held our meeting.

Helen and Phyllis brought salad (with both ranch and a raspberry vinaigrette), a chocolate cherry cake, and of course sodas.

In old business, everyone stated that they did not receive their “Brush Strokes” issue. The mailing was left up to the Delta Arts persons.

In new business, it is election time and due season. The dues are $10 and will be taken up at our next meeting in July.

The new officers have been talked to but there has not been an additional meeting for the old and new officers. New officers take the reigns at the July meeting and will hold office for the next 2 years.

We need more publicity! WE NEED MORE PUBLICITY! Was past around the meeting. Not many locals know that we do exist and who are the members.

It was suggested by Pat that we should have an “Artist of the Month” to be placed into the local newspapers.

A side note:

This is true. Not many of the artists know that there is a group like ours on this side of the river. Let along that there are others in Arkansas except for Little Rock and Jonesboro.

The DAS is giving a memorial for Lynne Crow (Glenda Warren daughter) to the museum in Earle.

Our program for July/August is going to be donated by Clara. We are going to create a village for the window of the Delta Arts Office.

James showed us his project from last month. He stated that he didn’t realize that too many of us tore the paper so squarely. He suggested that random tearing of the paper gives a more interest to the placement in the collage.

It is looking really abstract and looked a lot better with the blue sky as water. He took that suggestion and began to paint it as an impressionist painting.

More excitement from a DAS meeting is to come.
